Day 1 in Thailand - Chiang Mai

05:08

Can't believe it's already 2013. A lot has happened in 2012 that made me who I am right now. I learned to be stronger and to appreciate the people who I love because life is just that fragile. You'll never know what will happen the next minute. "Start living life right now and stop regretting", that's my motto from now, or at least until i get a new one. 2013 is going to be awesome! Its going to be a year of new experiences!

So we spent the first day in Chiang Mai and also the first day of Chinese New Year exploring the city. The thing I remember most about the city was the cool weather, friendly locals and cheap yet yummy food.

The thing about Thailand is that people tend to think its a very dangerous place. But through my experience, it wasn't at all dangerous. On the contrary, it was rather safe and the local were really friendly. Or maybe we were just lucky.

We met lots of foreigners that were staying in Chiang Mai, for weeks and even months. There are actually a lot of foreigners, ang mohs in Chiang Mai. Chatted with one of the ang mohs at our guesthouse and he told us that he liked staying in Chaing Mai and that he was considering retiring there even though he didn't know how to speak Thai.

Headed to Chinatown because its Chinese New Year! haha

Furry hats that were selling for only 100baht

Super cheap sushi. Feel like having one right now.

*drools*

Rented a big tuk-tuk (don't know what its called lah) for 1000baht per ride. At least we got more than 10 people in it so actually the price is still quite reasonable.

Matthias with his favourite blankey because it was kinda cold even though the sun was so bright.

What is Thailand without their famous Tom Yum?!
Definitely the best and spiciest I have had to this date.

Free mandarin oranges from the guesthouse manager

The moat that surrounds the city

See the resemblance? lol

Headed to the night market after dinner but didn't take much photo because scared of losing my camera

Till then. Goodnight!
