NYE Dinner

11:03

This year daddy said that he wanted a different nye's dinner rather than the usual Chinese cuisines so we had an Italian nye's dinner at Ristorante Becarri in Merdeka Palace. This was my first experience with such fine dinning.
Since we were such a large group, the restaurant gave us the private dinning hall. The only downside was that they should have given us a loooong table instead because we were then separated into two groups.

First thing that came to mind sitting down was which utensils to us first. lol
Now I know that we're suppose to use them from the outside in.

Selfies with mommy and sister before eating.
Daddy was at the other table with his friends because they were drinking whiskey and we drank wine at our table.

Complimentary champagne. Cheers!

"Amuse Bouche" (Complimentary Appetizer) Cappuccino D'Funghi
Mushroom Cappuccino served in a Chinese Tea Cup
This tasted soooo goood. I didn't taste the Cappuccino in the soup tho. I think the only resemblance of Cappuccino was the foam. Foamy soup. lol Something different.

Hor D'oeuvres | Antipasto Gran Tricittico
Chef's creation of cold appetizers consisting of prawn, scallop, grilled mixed vegetables and smoked mussels.

Appetizer
Slow cooked duck with plum sauce
The third course should have been Foie Gras but the chef said that the foie gras wasn't in the best condition so they changed it to duck.

Soup | Zuppa Toscana
Cream of pumpkin garnished with potatoes, beans, carrot and Parmesan cheese

Entree | Salmone E Cipola Caramelleta Crostata
Caramelized onion and pan seared Salmon served with Hollandaise Cream
My favorite among all. Can I have another plate?

Main Dish | Pollo Roulade Engnello Su Au Gratin
Rack of lamb on a potato-cream Au Gratin garnished with Alfalfa Sprout laced with Rosemary sauce and boneless stuffed Chicken roulade with Thyme served with selected garden vegetables on a bed of sweet capsicum 'Peperonata'
By the time the main course came I was too full to finish it

Dessert | Dolci Della Pasticceria Dello Chef Del Nouvo Anno Trattano
Pastry Chef's special New Year Dessert treat
Although I was already so full who could ever say no to desserts. By far the best cheesecake I have ever tasted!

Compliments to the chef!

When we were done with dinner we headed up to Victoria Arms for the New Year countdown because the management had already booked a table for us.

What is a countdown without glowsticks?

A new year

15:03

It's another new year! *throws confetti* Oh how time flies. I actually wanted to do a blogpost when I was on my Christmas break back home but I brought back my laptop but forgot to bring the cable and charger. Genius. So yeah, I wasn't able to on and charge my laptop.

The other day my mom asked me what my highlight for 2014 was but I couldn't think of anything. I was sitting there and thinking so hard but nothing came up. I did a lot in 2014 but somehow I couldn't think of anything significant.
There were definitely tons of ups than downs but to be honest, 2014 wasn't the best year for me.
There was a brief moment of time where I felt like I was at my lowest. A point where I questioned myself what I was doing with my life. It seemed like everyone was moving on with their lives but I was still where I started.
For a brief period of time I felt useless. I felt like I was a failure. That's why I haven't been blogging as much. I felt unmotivated to do anything. But I am so happy I got through that stage and picked myself up. I chose to stay positive. There's always light at the end of the tunnel.
In the end I learned that everything that has happened in my life happened for a reason. Which is why I am so grateful now for everything that has happened. It is who I am today.
I am so grateful for having such great family and friends.

Cheers! Here's to a new year filled with bundles of happiness and opportunities!
