High Above

09:49

I'm now back home in Kuching enjoying my semester break. Just got home on Tuesday. Took Malindo Air back for the first time. Not bad, wider leg room, free in-flight entertainment, free food and beverage including 15kg luggage allowance. I'm considering taking Malindo back and forth from no on.

Got the window seat although I personally prefer taking the aisle seat because I like to get out the plane faster to avoid the long queue in immigration. Every time I book a flight I would always book the aisle seat but I thought I would take a chance this time and I got the window seat.

Seating beside the window it suddenly came to me that its been so long since I looked out of a plane window. Looking at the clouds, they seem so mesmerizing and calm floating along the endless horizon and I was somehow staring at them for so long. Beauty is all around us but it is always the little things that we take for granted because we are always busy with everything and rushing through life. Why not just take a rest and appreciate the little things around us that makes life so beautiful.

food

Amigo Steak and Grill Restaurant

18:20

Had dinner at Amigo last friday with the bf and a few friends. I told the bf I hadn't have dinner there for quite a long time, at least a year I guess and he brought me there along with a few friends.

Cream of mushroom - RM3.50

Carrot milk (XL) - RM8.00
It's the same size as my face. wtf
Tori teriyaki + rice and soup - RM12.80
My order. Mushroom Chicken - RM10.80
Mussels gratin -RM8.00
Grilled potato chicken - RM13.80
Grilled chicken topped with hash brown and chicken ham with mushroom sauce.

Reasons to have dinner here is they have loads of variety of foods to choose from and that their pricing is very reasonable considering the food they serve are quite large in portion and are also very delicious.
No wonder the place is always packed on weekends.

deal

Wasabi Sushi House

17:06

I love browsing through Groupon because they have loads of wonderful deals. I especially love buying their restaurant deals.
So I stumbled upon this 6-course Japanese meal deal a few weeks ago and I bought without even hesitating because both the bf and I love love Japanese food.
The meal was suppose to be RM100+ but Groupon was it selling for only RM48.

I finally made a reservation for 2 for the coupon yesterday.

Garlic fried rice

Kaisen miso nabe. The seafood used were really fresh.

Chawanmushi

Tori teriyaki. The best of the bunch. Grilled chicken with a hint of crispiness topped with sweet and salty teriyaki sauce.

Nigiri sushi and Gunkan Moriwase

Half melted matcha green tea ice-cream topped with what I think is lotus paste.

Candid shot! Hahaha

Service and environment of the restaurant was just ok-ok and pricing is a bit expensive but the food was great! Two thumbs-up for the food.

Sekinchan and Fireflies

15:36

Me and the bf and a few of his friends went to Sekinchan last Saturday just because we have never been there. So it was a spontaneous one day trip.

Fun fact about Sekinchan: Its name Sekinchan (适耕庄)in chinese means "village suitable for plantation". The place is also known as a fishing village famous for its fresh and cheap seafood, and also one of the rice bowls of Malaysia.

Gwiyomi male version. Hahah

Super sweet and huge mangoes selling for RM9/kg which is also quite expensive.

We went to the beach before dinner and one of the bf's friend said that there was where they filmed one of the local chinese dramas (which I don't know because I don't watch a lot of TV) on the tree-house .
Couples having their per-wedding shots in front of the sunset.

After dinner we headed back to Selangor to catch the fireflies show. RM40/boat.

I remember when I was little I could see and catch them with our bare hands just behind my grandma's house in the garden. They made grandma's garden looked like there were dozens of Christmas trees. There was one time I was afraid to catch them because I thought they would burn. But now they are all gone. :(

Seeing the fireflies again made me feel like a child again.

Flash photography isn't allowed  because it will scare the fireflies away. But if you look harder, there's actually a few dots in the photo but its not clear because they were actually more than hundreds or even thousands of them.
The guide told us the experience being there cannot be taken like a photograph but through the experience of being there ourselves. It is something that we should see and feel for ourselves. Wise words.
